Class One: Getting Started (FREE!)

Our first class is a great overview of the joys of beekeeping! Join Dana and Hillary--a father and daughter beekeeping team--as they talk about the spirituality of beekeeping, the history of beekeeping, bees themselves, and how you can get started on your own beekeeping journey. Some of the things you will learn in class one include:

  • The science and history of beekeeping

  • How to use by products of the hive (like honey and wax)

  • How to make beekeeping a spiritual practice

  • All about bees, their life-patterns, and the three different kinds that make up a hive

Class Two: Equipment and Setting up your Hive

Class Two will give you an overview of the types of tools you will need in beekeeping, how to use them, and where to obtain them. You will also learn how to set up your hive itself. Topics for Class Two include:

  • Accessories and tools for hive maintenance

  • Clothing & purchasing supplies & bees

  • Parts of a hive and set up

Class Three: Spring Maintenance

The springtime is when the beekeeping year begins! In this class, you review how and where to set up your hive as well as installing your bees. Spring is also a critical time for checking on the health of your hive and this section will give you all the tools you need to give your bees a health foundation. In this class you will learn:

  • How to install your bees

  • Queen installation and health

  • Colony build up & health

Class Four: Early Summer Harvest

Your bees will be buzzing come summer time and this class will have all the information you will need to care for them in this busy season. Find out what makes for a spiritual beekeeper in times of stress and how to keep common pests away. In this class you will learn:

  • How to spot and treat common pests

  • How to stay calm and equanimus while conducting hive checks

  • When you might have your first honey harvest

  • Safeguarding against swarms and overcrowding

Class Five: Winter Preparation

Winter can be a hard time for your bees, so this class will give you all the preparation tools you need to help them make it through. With the right care, your bees can be sung and warm all winter long. In this class you will learn:

  • Fall harvesting and honey stores considerations

  • When and how to start feeding your bees

  • Winter-proofing your hive

Class Six: Into the Hive

Join Hillary and Dana as they journey into the hive to perform a routine bee check and set up their hive for the winter. This is a very practical and hands-on class to give you a feel for beeking in a spiritual way. In this class you will learn:

  • How to tell different kinds of bees apart

  • How to look for health comb

  • Spotting larva and honey

  • Set up the hive for winter

Class Seven: The Candy Board

One of the best (and most delicious) ways to help your bees winterover successfully is by building a candy board. This video will offer you set-by-set instructions for this important hive health tool. In this class you will learn:

  • How to keep your bees dry and feed over winter

  • Step-by-step procedures for building and installing a candy board

  • Additional winter tips for hive health

Class Eight: Honey Extraction

This may be the most delicious class of all! One of the sweetest parts of being a spiritual beekeeper is the holy gift of honey that you and the bees work together to create. In this section, we will be going over how to extract and store honey.

  • Tools and techniques of honey extraction

  • How much honey to take vs leave for the bees

  • The proper way to store and gift honey


  • Guided Bee Meditation

    In this bonus gift, Hillary takes you on a guided meditation into the hive. It is a wonderful way to take the deeply spiritual practice of beekeeping even further. This tract even included audio recorded from the hive featured in the classes!
